Checkmate Group is a boutique artist management roster. We sign artists slowly, on purpose. Right now there are 2 of them. There will never be a hundred.
The standard playbook (more drops, more posts, more shows, more artists per roster) optimizes for a treadmill that artists pay to run on. We don't run that playbook. We run a slower one, on a smaller list of acts, where the work compounds instead of evaporating.
One viral moment is not a career. A catalogue is. A circuit of rooms that book you back is. A press archive that an editor will actually open is. We build for those things, then let the algorithm do whatever it's going to do.
You won't find us in the photos. You won't see us on the panels. The artists we work with do not need a manager who is also trying to be a content creator.
